I was tracking a different Great Horned Owl deeper in the woods when he lead me right up to his mate seen here. She overlooked a field as she hunted about half an hour after sunset. It was so dark that I couldn’t directly see the owl with my own eyes. Finding proper focus was a game of guess and check.

Fun fact: Great horned owls mate for life and lay their eggs in old abandoned nests.
